Frederick Gardeners

So ....we're trying to get a community garden up and running here in Frederick, Maryland. I'm actually not such a good gardener ...but I did get the blog up! Let me know if you live in the area and would like to get involved! We are also still looking for a plot of land to use in the downtown Frederick area ...any body have any ideas?

http://www.delatierragardens.com/plantsales.html That's my wife's business. She will be doing a market in Fredneck again this year and offering CSA shares. The reason I am telling you this is I know she loves Frederick and loves getting involved. If nothing else she can give some advice,...if you need it.

Hi Anna! I'm Jackie Travis' wife. I used to live and go to school in Frederick and had the idea for a community garden as well but never got any farther than thinking about it. Any chance the city would allow something in Baker Park? That would be an amazing place for it. Also, I'm a Frederick County Master Gardener, through the MD Cooperative Extension, and I may be able to get some ideas from them as far as a location. I'll put it out to them and let you know what they say. Good luck!

Thanks to both of you for all your enthusiasm! I think we may have actually found a good location over on South Street. There was a potential spot with the Zimmerman co. over near Baker Park ...but fencing and irrigation might have been an issue. I hope to meet you both when you're in town for the market! Please cotinue to stay in touch!

Thanks! I took that photo while I was doing my masters research in South Africa. It was actually a community garden in the rural homelands.

...former homelands that is.
